The biggest selling point of craft soaps are their ingredients. Most craft soaps use real natural ingredients without fillers or detergents. Out of all the great ingredients, base oils like palm oil, coconut oil, castor oil, etc. play a huge role in keeping your skin moisturized. The benefits of essential oils in soaps make craft soaps much more appealing than commercial synthetic detergent bars. The majority of commercial soaps contain chemical ingredients which can irritate the skin. Since essential oils are naturally obtained from plants, they are pivotal in nourishing and nurturing the skin.
Is It Better to Use Fragrance Oil or Essential Oil for Soap Making?
Essential oils are natural chemical compounds that are extracted from different parts of plants, usually through distillation or pressing. A major advantage of using essential oils is that they are derived from a natural source. There is a growing demand for all-natural cosmetics and beauty products. Essential oils have aromatherapy benefits. For instance, the calming effects of lavender oil or the anti-fungal properties of tea tree oil. You wouldn’t get those same benefits from the synthetic version of those oils. Essential oil is more expensive than fragrance oil. They should not be exposed to direct sunlight and the available scent is more limited than fragrance oils.
So, Why Use Essential Oils?
The scents are amazing and if you have not experienced the essential oil soap scent, you really need to experience it for yourself. Their aroma is so natural and pure that apart from keeping the skin healthy and glowing, its fragrance would be a major selling point on its own. A good aroma provides instant mood revitalization. Pure essential oils are available in a wide range of scents from citrus to mint to the ever-popular-lavender.
How Are Essential Oils Naturally Extracted?
Steam distillation is the most common extraction technique for essential oils. In a still, pressurized steam is passed through the biomass, where it ruptures the plant structures that hold the essential oils, releasing constituent volatile and non-volatile compounds. the oils can be extracted from leaves, stems, roots, and even the bark of plants. They can also come from flowers, seeds, and peel as in lemon essential oil. The scents are much closer to nature and smell much better than synthetic fragrances.
Aromatherapy Benefits
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health. We are not offering medical advice but essential oils are the basic building blocks of aromatherapy. Using these oils can provide you benefits over and beyond simply how wonderful they smell. Using pure essential oils in soap and beauty products will help you holistically.
Several Essential Oils Are Effective at Reducing Skin Irritation
Some essential oils have antimicrobial properties, which makes them effective against infections that might result from scratching. Others have anti-inflammatory properties, making them effective at calming down irritated skin and alleviating itchy bug bites. Using essential oils in homemade soap will not only give a stronger and more pure aroma, but many of them contain properties that can heal and protect the skin.
